We have made an exception here and included a rocky beach rather than golden sands. Port is too interesting to leave out of the list. The rugged coastline and rocky shore make a spectacular scene.

Port is a deserted fishing village that lost it’s population following the Irish Famine. It is also at one end of a coastal walk from Port to Glencolmcille. There is a memorial here to the 19 sailors who died on 16 November 1870, when the merchant ship, Sydney, sank off the South West Donegal coast.

Accessibility

Limited parking with fairly level access to the shore. The drive to Port is along a narrow road but there are passing places.
