This spectacular beach is on the Rosguill Peninsula,  County Donegal, Ireland. When the tide is in there are two beaches, which merge into one when the tide is out. The wild waters may also be responsible for the bay’s nickname “The Murder Hole”.  There is an  island roughly 15 meters from the shore, called Rough Island. Until recently access was through private land and not welcomed. In April 2022 a new trail and car park has launched at Melmore (near the caravan park) that makes getting to the beach possible, albeit involving steep climbs and descents. The beach is a 15-20 minute walk from the car park. The beach is not suitable for swimming.

Accessibility

Until April 2022 this beach was only accessible across private land. Thanks to a local initiative there is now a car park and trail to the beach. The trail involves several steep climbs but for those of moderate fitness the trek is well worth while.
