There are two beaches here. One is known as trá na nglór and is only accessible through private land This beach is popular with surfers. The other beach known as trá bán has a car park and direct access and is more suitable as a family beach. The drive here is scenic along a narrow road with passing places. Muckross Head is a small peninsula in the parish of Kilcar about 10km west of Killybegs.

At the peninsula head there is a popular rock climbing area.

Accessibility

Access to trá bán is easy from the adjoining car park. Trá na nglór is accessible through private land and a five minute walk.
